Douglas is A city in Coffee County in Georgia located 201 miles southeast of Atlanta, the state's capital. It is the county's seat along with the center city of the Douglas, Georgia Micropolitan Statistical Area.

Douglas, a renowned stump speaker who challenged Abraham Lincoln in the 1860 presidential elections.

Douglas is a little town that's rich in history. Two of Its areas have been listed on the National Register here of Historic Places in 1989. These are the downtown and Gaskin Avenue historic districts.

Among the city's Most Important tourist attractions in Gaskin Avenue is your Ashley-Slater House, an Italianate mansion built in 1914, that has been regarded as a regional architectural treasure.

The Ashley-Slater House features a distinctive mural, Antique furnishings, a collection of family items, WWI memorabilia, love letters, photos and other items.

Most undamaged, complete and initial main flight school from World War II left in the United States, the 63rd Army Air Forces Contract Pilot School, which still boasts of its 13 original buildings, field and hangars, that are still fairly much exactly the same as they were during the war.

The Museum preserves the story of those who fought in the war. It was once the house of the 63rd Flight Training Detachment.


Exhibits found in the Museum include a World War II Barracks, aircrew battle and training equipment such as a vintage aircraft.
